Mobile Pallet Racking

Double storage capacity with racking systems that move on rails

Mobile pallet racking is a high-density storage system where pallet racking units are mounted on mobile bases that move along floor-mounted rails.

By eliminating fixed aisles and opening access only where needed, this system can almost double storage capacity compared to conventional pallet racking. Mobile pallet racking is ideal for warehouses where floor space is limited or costly, and storage density is a top priority.

Why Mobile Pallet Racking is Suitable for You

01
Maximum Space Utilization

By removing permanent aisles, you can significantly increase pallet capacity within the same warehouse footprint.

02
Ideal for Medium to Low Throughput Operations

The system is well suited for operations where storage density is more critical than simultaneous multi-aisle access.

03
Controlled and Safe Access

Only one aisle opens at a time, reducing traffic congestion and improving operational safety.

04
Suitable for High-Cost Storage Areas

Mobile pallet racking is commonly used in cold storage, temperature-controlled environments, and warehouses with high building or land costs.

How Does Mobile Pallet Racking Work?

Mobile pallet racking consists of pallet racking systems installed on powered mobile bases that travel along steel rails embedded in the warehouse floor.

Each racking base moves independently to open a working aisle only where access is required, while the remaining racks stay compacted. Movement is controlled via push-button panels, remote controls, or integrated safety systems.

The system design—including rack height, load capacity, rail layout, and safety features—is determined by pallet characteristics, load weights, building structure, and operational requirements.

This configuration enables very high storage density while maintaining direct access to each pallet.

System Structure

Mobile pallet racking systems include the following key components:

  • Mobile bases – motorized units supporting the racking structure
  • Rails – floor-mounted tracks guiding rack movement
  • Frames and beams – standard pallet racking components mounted on mobile bases

Optional safety and control features include:

  • Anti-collision and obstacle detection sensors
  • Emergency stop buttons and safety scanners
  • Pallet backstops and rack-end protection
  • Load signage and system status indicators

These features ensure safe operation and system reliability during daily use.
