Pallet Flow Racking

FIFO pallet storage system with roller tracks that automatically move pallets forward

Pallet flow racking is a high-density storage system designed to support First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory management using gravity-driven roller tracks.

Pallets are loaded from one side of the rack and automatically flow forward to the picking or retrieval side. This ensures consistent stock rotation, improved throughput, and efficient use of warehouse space—making pallet flow racking ideal for time-sensitive or high-turnover inventory.

Why Pallet Flow Racking is Suitable for You

01
FIFO Inventory Flow

Pallets are loaded and retrieved from opposite sides of the rack, ensuring proper stock rotation and compliance with FIFO requirements.

02
Faster Pallet Handling and Throughput

Gravity-fed roller tracks automatically move pallets forward, reducing forklift travel time and improving handling efficiency.

03
High-Density Storage with Controlled Flow

Deep storage lanes increase pallet capacity while maintaining structured and predictable material flow.

04
Ideal for Time-Sensitive Inventory

Well suited for operations handling perishable goods, batch-controlled products, or strict expiry management.

How Does Pallet Flow Racking Work?

Pallet flow racking uses inclined roller tracks installed inside each storage lane. When a pallet is loaded at the input side, gravity causes it to roll smoothly toward the retrieval side.

Speed controllers and brake rollers regulate pallet movement to ensure safe and controlled flow. As one pallet is removed from the discharge side, the next pallet automatically advances into position.

Lane depth, rack height, roller type, and braking systems are designed based on pallet weight, throughput requirements, and product characteristics.

This system enables continuous FIFO flow with minimal manual intervention, improving both efficiency and inventory control.

System Structure

Pallet flow racking systems consist of the following key components:

  • Frames and beams – structural elements supporting the system
  • Roller tracks – gravity conveyors guiding pallet movement
  • Brake rollers – controlling pallet speed and impact
  • Pallet separators or end stops – ensuring safe pallet positioning

Optional safety and system features include:

  • Entry and exit guides
  • Lane separators
  • Load signage and safety labeling
  • Rack protection and impact guards

These components ensure smooth pallet movement, operational safety, and long-term system reliability.
