Pallet Shuttle System

High-speed shuttle system to move pallets or tote bins within racking channels

A Pallet Shuttle System is a high-density storage solution that uses motorized shuttles to move pallets or tote bins automatically within racking channels.

Instead of forklifts entering deep lanes, the shuttle transports loads inside the racking, increasing storage density, throughput, and operational safety. This system is ideal for warehouses handling high volumes per SKU and looking to improve efficiency without fully automating the entire facility.

Why Pallet Shuttle System is Suitable for You

01
High-Density Storage with Faster Throughput

Deep-lane storage maximizes capacity while shuttle-driven movement enables faster loading and retrieval compared to manual drive-in systems.

02
Reduced Forklift Travel and Rack Impact

Forklifts operate only at the front of the rack, reducing travel distance, congestion, and the risk of structural damage.

03
Suitable for Pallets and Tote Bins

The system can be configured to handle palletized loads or tote bins, supporting different inventory profiles and workflows.

04
Scalable Semi-Automated Solution

Additional shuttles can be added to increase throughput as volumes grow, without major layout changes.

How Does Pallet Shuttle System Work?

A Pallet Shuttle System consists of racking channels equipped with rails on which a motorized shuttle operates.

Forklifts place pallets or tote bins at the front of the channel. The shuttle then carries the load to the assigned storage position inside the rack. For retrieval, the shuttle brings the load back to the aisle for forklift pickup.

System design—including channel depth, rack height, shuttle speed, and number of shuttles—is determined by load characteristics, throughput requirements, and operational flow. The system can operate under FIFO or LIFO logic depending on layout configuration.

This setup enables high-density, fast, and controlled storage operations.

System Structure

Pallet Shuttle Systems typically include:

  • Racking structure – designed for deep-lane storage
  • Shuttle units – motorized devices moving loads within channels
  • Rails – guiding shuttle movement
  • Shuttle charging stations – for continuous operation
  • Control interface – managing shuttle tasks and movements

Optional features and enhancements include:

  • Multiple shuttles per system
  • FIFO or LIFO configuration options
  • Integration with WMS or WCS
  • Load sensors and safety systems
  • Remote or tablet-based shuttle control
